The New Mercedes-Benz G 500 Retains Iconic Box Profile with Subtle Updates

The latest Mercedes-Benz G 500 carries over the classic boxy silhouette of the current model, with only subtle revisions and upgrades to the details. The most noticeable change is found in the front grille, where the previous three chrome inserts with perforations have been replaced by four solid chrome bars, lending a flatter visual effect. On the lower front bumper, silver decorative caps have been added to both sides, while the small grille inserts have been reshaped from diamonds to an array of rounded rectangles, giving the front end a more contemporary and refined look.
Changes to the side profile and rear are minimal. The new G 500 now features more convenient keyless entry and adopts flared wheel arches sourced from the AMG Line sport package, which not only enhances the sense of power and athleticism visually but also helps deflect flying gravel and mud during off-road driving.
Under the hood, the new G 500 switches to a brand-new 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, mated to a 9G-TRONIC transmission. The combustion engine delivers 330 kW and 560 N·m of peak torque, while the electric motor provides an additional 20 PS. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, with combined fuel consumption rated between 10.9 and 12.3 liters per 100 km.
